High Quality
See more Cardboard Khomeinis here.
And the inspiration here:

To celebrate the 33rd anniversary on Wednesday of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s triumphant return from exile, Iran re-enacted his arrival at a Tehran airport, using a cardboard cutout to stand in for the late Iranian leader.
Photographs of the ceremony published on Tuesday by Iran’s semiofficial Mehr news agency seemed to lend themselves to parody, with Farsi and English Internet satirists treating them as bizarre authoritarian kitsch.

Who is Shervin Lalezary? He's a good story, is what he is

File this under: Persians named Shervin doing good deeds.

Shervin Lalezary, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy who made the traffic stop that netted arson suspect Harry Burkhart, is OK looking too. He’s not a full-time member of the LASD. He is a Beverly Hills real estate lawyer who joined the sheriff’s reserves for $1 a year and was out on just his fourth duty shift early this morning. Lalezary, 30, said tonight he was born in Tehran, Iran. His brother came with him to the press conference where Lalezary was introduced by Sheriff Lee Baca.

Brainquake!

Let’s create a “Brainquake” and show off our resumes, CVs, honors, prizes, accomplishments (photo evidence) because the Hojatoleslam and the Islamic Republic of Iran are afraid of women’s abilities to push for change, to thrive despite gender apartheid (Did you know that over 64% of students studying at universities in Iran are women?) Let’s honor the accomplishments of Iranian women by showing off our abilities, our creativity, our ingenuity, and our smarts on our blogs, on Wikipedia, on Twitter, on Youtube, on Flickr and all over Facebook. Remember to use hashtag #brainquake on Twitter.

The DMX of Iran? Not gonna lie… sounds better in Farsi than the English subtitles. However, it was impressively filmed from the streets of Tehran.

Iranian cleric: Promiscuous women cause quakes

The “women not properly covered = earthquakes” argument is eerily reminiscent to the logic that gets little children to eat all of their vegetables: leaving peas on your plate = monsters under your bed.
